Artiste : RENZO *
The French artist Hugo Lobet, known as Renzo, born in 1992, is a pure product of the Parisian graffiti scene, which has been shaping him since his youth. In love with letters, he finds the starting point for his plastic and pictorial work through his research into writing. He studied typography and calligraphy during his studies and thus created his own original typographies. Renzo has the particularity of systematically seeking and renewing his approach and expression of the letter and the line, of the codified rhythm of writing, searching for the border of the unreadable, and methodically leading his work towards abstraction. In the manner of a lapidary engraver, he cuts his letters from their bones. Variations in light and shadow suggest the structure of the letter. The eye is called upon to decipher the message. His process gives rise to a work that balances several currents: geometry, optical art, calligraphy, cryptography and graffiti.
In the 2010s, he acts in the public space, making a name for himself in the field of graffiti; for almost five years he has been developing a studio work alongside the V.A.O collective and exhibiting his first works in contemporary urban art galleries.
